Motorcycle - Take the Left Lane!

The new regulation on motorcycle was officially valid this Monday. After the regulation of turning on the front light of every motorcycle, now it was the regulation for motorcycle’s driver to take the left lane of the road. The aims of the two new regulations were to reduce the number of motorcycle accident caused by overly crowded traffic. And since motorcycle has the smallest body size compared to other vehicles, motorcycle often suffers as victim in traffic accident. Although I must say this term sounds inappropriate, since most of the motorcycle’s driver often drove like a mad man, and I - who sometimes drive to work - often feel irritated by the way they drove. But I have to admit that motorcycle which size is smaller than cars often slip the eye of car’s driver; these are the moments when accident that took motorcycle as the victim happens.

I’ve seen the introduction of the new regulation for the past two weeks. In the road along Buncit until Gatot Subroto, police were standing in the left lane of the road, directing the motorcycles to take the left lane and ONLY the left lane. And I said it was a good job. I feel the direct impact of this regulation and I could tell that road in Gatot Subroto feels a bit wider since it was free of motorcycle. And every now and then when I drive, I became more aware of the motorcycle’s existence by seeing their front lights through the rear view. I’m not going to argue about these regulations; I agree to the implementation of the regulations. Mini once told me, when he was in China, motorcycle has their own lanes on the left side of the road. The special lane was only for motorcycles and no other vehicles.

Speaking of motorcycle’s accident, there were four cases of motorcycle’s accident that was happening to people I knew. The most recent one was last night. My cousin had an accident on his way home. He hit a car on his attempt to pass a bus. He didn’t see the car coming from his left, he went on speed and very surprised when the car appeared on his left. Then bang! He hit the car and fell to the ground. When he rose up and cleaning up his mess, he later realized that his left pointer finger was bleeding, his finger almost broke off. Luckily, the person whose car he hit was kind enough to take him to the hospital. He made it to the hospital and had a surgery. It was horror, poor him :(

The other two accidents even took the life of the driver. The first one was my friend’s father, who got hit by a bus. And the other one was my colleague who was hit by a car on his way to the office. The worse thing was his motorcycle was stolen when he was unconscious after he was hit. How ironic!

For that reason, I have strong hope to the new regulation for the motorcycle and its driver. I hope the number of accident can be reduced infact, I hope that there weren’t any other accident in the future, especially the one that took lives of the driver.

It's Done

It's Done. The mail was sent. There's no turning back, hopefully no regret. Never thought that I would turn down a letter as precious as this one. Now I have to move on and never look back. I have to, there's no point of looking back, no point of holding on to memories, no matter how promising and glorious it may seen. The current and the future is all I have now. I hope, this is the right decision. And I could live my life, whole hearted. No regret, no remorse.

His Last Word wasn’t a mock

Due to my shock-ness of Saddam Hussein's death on Eidul Adha 3 days ago – which supposed to be held a month later -, I keep searching for the news on Saddam's death execution. And after days of his death and my searching of his last day, lots of opinions spread among bloggers and others who wrote about the execution, lots of pros and cons was spoken by a lot of people. I myself first saw the execution through a video tape in youtube.

I was quite shocked about the news presented by CNN, it was said that his last word was a mock over Saddam’s enemy while the truth wasn’t like that. If only the video of Saddam’s execution wasn’t leaking and the whole world didn’t see the video record with their own eyes, it was crafted in everyone’s mind that his last word wasn’t avowal – syahadat- words; it was the mocking of Muqtada Al Sadr – Saddam’s enemy-. Maybe the Siiah and Suni will once again put anger over another, because of the mocking that was claimed to be Saddam's last words.

It was a big difference for Moslem who understand, that saying the avowal words before confront death is extremely difficult. Will we ever say it before we die? Will we even notice that our death has come? Saddam had faced his destiny – can we really call it destiny? If a man’s life and death is defined by another man? - With a brave heart. He said it out loud. He said the avowal words twice before he was hung. His second avowal wasn’t even finished, when the floor where he stood collapsed.

After the military aggression done by US in Iraq, has Iraq became a better place? It can be seen that it’s not. The civil war spread among the Iraqi, a suicide bomb happens frequently. Maybe I have to admit, the one who keep the civil war from not happening in Iraq was Saddam himself. Just like Soeharto keep Indonesia like we once knew. I know some people disagree, but let’s face it, some taxi’s driver, bajaj’s driver, becak’s driver and those people who lives under the line of prosperity said that Jakarta and Indonesia was better under the leadership of Soeharto as the president, despite the affairs and pro cons over the way he lead this country. The USD rate was two thousand rupiahs, basic needs and gasoline was at cheap price. Everything that you could imagine was cheaper then.

I once ever wrote about the deed of US behind the Iraq invasion 3 years ago and my opinion, the plan of Iraq invasion was nothing related to the development of massive-weapon nor nuclear threats. It was more about the US ambition to torn down the leadership of Saddam Hussein, I never knew, not even crossed my mind, what has Saddam or Iraqi has done to the US that deserves these kinds of slaughters. What was the thing that profitable to the US if Iraq is broken apart and it’s official president torn down. I can never understand how come the one that killed the most could still possibly said it out loud, that he and his country had done so much to the Iraqi and to the world to make it a better place - oh yeah, better place for them, not for the country's citizen -. Has the world been blinded? I never agreed about the attack on 11^th September, but why was the world aware and was forced to see of that terrible moments while the one that is currently happening – and Allah only knows for how long it will take - in Iraq just coincidentally slip their eyes?

I once again said, his last words was "Ashadu an la ilaha ila Allah, wa ashhadu ana Mohammadurrasool Allah*". It wasn’t the mocking of his enemy. My deep condolence goes to Saddam Hussein. May Allah SWT forgive all of his mistakes and keep him in the most comfortable place beside Allah SWT. Amiin…
